Dear Andrew,

I was surfing the net and came across your web page and read it with great interest.  I was stationed in

Viet Nam from May of 1965 to April 1966 with the 507th Engineer Detachment, 1st Log Command.

During that time, our unit was billeted at Camp Red Ball and we were instrumental constructing some of

the barracks buildings and other facilities at Camp Red Ball.  I recognize some of the buildings from your

pictures, but it seems that more buildings (like the Church and BOQ) were added after I left country.

We also worked with PA & E on construction projects.

During my time, we were only mortared once or twice.  I can see from your pictures that you really got it

during the Tet Offensive of 1967.

I guess our unit must have moved to Long Bien after I left.  When I first came in-country, Long Bien was

nothing but a rubber plantation.  Within one year, that place really got built up.

Anyway, thanks for the memories.
